Tuesday & Thursday

Tutorials

What are tutorials?

Small group of tutoring sessions are held twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday, during the AVID elective period. During the tutorials, the AVID elective class is divided into several tutorial groups. Under the direction and supervision of AVID teachers or AVID trained college students at each group.

What is the purpose of tutorials?

AVID tutorials create deeper understanding of concepts and develop skills to become self-driven learners.

How does avid tutorials differ from regular tutoring?

Students must arrive at the tutorials with pre-work  completed and specific questions written in a Tutorial Request Form (TRF).
If the student doesn't have any questions regarding any homework, school work, and test they must still attend the tutorial with a completed TRF. The group is still responsible to further explore the material that is covered in their academic classes.
